Florivsky Female Cathedral is known since 15th century. In 1710 it was united with Voznesinsky monastery; the monastery was moved from Pechersk in connection with building of the Old Pechersk Castle. In 1722-32 Voznesinska church was erected – six-pillar three-apsidal building. To the west to the main temple one could find two-storey refectory – a hall with a church and warehouses.
After the Great Fire of 1811 rebuilding was headed by Melensky. On the territory of the monastery some of the original buildings have been saved. Voznesinska church built in classical architecture in 1824 is round rotunda which facade was decorated with colonnade of the Ionic order. Bell tower is dated 1740 and was rebuilt in 1824; it is a rectangular three-storey building (on the ground floor there is a pass-through, the second is decorated with a double-column portico of the Toscana order, third floor is a dome on a so-called drum with a tall spire). Abbot’s house is a small rectangular building, which entrance is also decorated with an ionic double-column portico, was built in 1822.
Florivsky Female Cathedral is located in Florivska Street.
